Bargarh, in western Odisha, is one of the home towns of Sambalpuri ikat, where the yarn is resist-dyed before it goes on the loom so the pattern softens and feathers at its edges. This shirt takes its cue from that tradition: a Bargarh-inspired diamond ikat in sage green and ivory, handwoven in cotton in Odisha.

It has a spread collar and a buttoned front, with a band of fine vertical pintucks running down each side of the placket. The sleeves are long with single-button cuffs, and the fit is slightly relaxed through the body, with a curved hem that can be worn tucked in or left out.

Wear it with ivory or stone trousers for a daytime celebration or a long lunch, or open at the collar with denim at the weekend. Made to order in your size. The trousers in the photos are for styling only and are not included.

How to measure

Use a soft tape measure over light clothing, snug but not tight, and keep it level. The fit line above says which measurement to choose by.

Chest
Around the fullest part of your chest, just under your arms, keeping the tape level across your back.
Waist
Around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso, just above the navel.
Hip
Feet together, around the fullest part of your hips.
Length
The shirt’s own length, measured from the highest point of the shoulder, beside the collar, straight down to the hem at the centre front. Hold a tape from the same point on yourself to see where it will fall.
